Staff Accountant opening in our East Brunswick, NJ Business Office!



Overview: Under the direction of the Payroll Manager, the Staff Accountant will perform all tasks involving payroll and its related functions. Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant supports the Accounting Department by performing a wide variety of accounting functions. He or she is expected to perform these functions in an efficient manner with minimal supervision with accuracy and confidentiality. The Staff Accountant maintains a thorough working knowledge of and adheres to the organization’s policies and procedures. This is a shared position with Accounting and Payroll and will report to the Accounting Manager and the Payroll Manager.   



Essential Payroll Functions: 


· Processes biweekly and bonus payroll 


· Receives and logs payroll changes and creates payroll batch worksheets 


· Maintains information in ADP system for current, former and new employees 


· Prepares customized reports for HR and Supervisors 


· Maintains spreadsheet of file numbers and PTO 


· Handles salary and employment verification requests  


· Completes disability forms for employees 


· Creates and runs ADP reports as needed 



Essential Accounting Functions:  

  • Reconciles bank statements 
  • Responsible for fixed assets  
    • Maintain fixed assets in FAS for all companies 
    • Prepare monthly depreciation entries 
    • Review and reconcile deposits on equipment account 
    • Prepare internal depreciation reports for valuations, as required. 
    • Prepare other reports as required (budget, audit, etc.) 
    • Assist with fixed asset physical inventories  
  • Provide back up support for the following accounting functions:  
    • Miscellaneous remote deposits 
    • Patient accounting remote deposits 
    • Cash bags 
    • Payroll bi-weekly journal entry   



Other Responsibilities: 


· Quarterly and Annual employee mailings (pension summary, W-2’s etc.) 


· Participates in Accounting Department projects as needed 





· BA/BS in Accounting 


· One to Three years of progressive payroll experience 


· Two plus years progressive Accounting experience 


· Computer literate in financial application software, Payroll, HR, and Time and Attendance application software 


· Advanced computer skills with proficiency in MS Word and Excel 


· Strong knowledge of basic payroll practices 


· Strong knowledge of basic accounting practices 


· Basic knowledge of fixed asset management, healthcare and joint venture accounting preferred
