University Radiology, the largest provider of subspecialty radiology and teleradiology services in NJ, is comprised of over 140 Board Certified radiologists with advanced U.S.-based training and expertise in all modalities and all subspecialty areas. Our focus is on providing the highest quality subspecialty diagnostic care for our patients, referring physicians, hospitals and our healthcare clients. The more subspecialists driving this focus, the better the quality of care.

In operation for more than 50 years, University Radiology staffs, manages and provides preliminary and final subspecialty interpretations and consultative support for 10 affiliated regional healthcare centers and for our own 23 medical imaging centers. In addition, University Radiology serves as the academic radiology faculty at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Our physicians interpret over 1.8 million radiology procedures per year providing 24/7/365 coverage/interpretation services.

Reporting to the Patient Financial Services Manager, the Coder is responsible to review radiology reports & accurately assign diagnosis codes and procedures codes to ensure all charges are captured.
This position will be based out of our East Brunswick, NJ Business Office.

Monday-Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM


Responsibilities:

•       Review diagnosis and procedure codes applied to reports by coding engine.

•       Work closely with physicians when clarification is required. 

•       Completes coding audits.

•       Handle denial reports daily with a 24-48 hour turnaround time.

•       Maintain number of CEU’s required to retain coding certification. 

•       Keep organization current with materials and updates to coding guidelines as it relates to Radiology

•       Contribute at meetings - providing feedback, ideas and suggestions to improve daily work flows

•       Maintain number of CEU’s required to retain coding certification.

•       Have an understanding of the Revenue Cycle and the impact Coding has within the Cycle.

Qualifications:

•       Knowledge of CPT, ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes, anatomy and physiology.

•       Certified by AAPC and/or RBMA.

•       Must be self-motivated – showing interest to self-improve.

•       Team player who can contribute to providing a professional and positive work environment.

•       Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Work, Excel, Outlook)

•       Knowledge of all insurance contracts & reimbursement

•       Knowledge of Insurance Websites

•       Strong organizational and communication skills

•       2 years’ experience as a certified coder
